Zimbabwe has a recorded adult HIV prevalence of 1 in 3. About 2000 adults die weekly from HIV-related illness and as a result the orphan population is over one million. That means there are a lot of households struggling to keep everyone fed.
These grocery packs feed a family of four orphaned by HIV and AIDS for a month. The pack consists of 20 kg maize meal, 1 kg dried fish and 2 litres of cooking oil. This takes the pressure off grandparents with no income who are struggling to care for the needs of their families.
