Project Need: $493,383
Melody Matika is mother to Elson and Audrey Gwarada. The father deserted the family when the wife was scanned during pregnancy and it was established she was carrying twins. The husband apparently had lost his job and the prospect of looking after twins frightened him and he ran away.
The wife is not employed and when she eventually gave birth to the twins she needed more food for her to be able to produce enough milk for the children but she had no one to assist her. The children’s growth was at stake and she came to us for formula milk as supplementary food for the kids. We took them up, and by 31st March Audrey was 4.8kg and Elson 5.1kg. The older brother helps Melody to carry one of the twins.
This project is currently running the following programs: Educational Assistance, Food Assistance, Life Skills Camps and continued Volunteers Education.
