Project Need: $64,988
Three women, Farai, Event and Martha have teamed up to do a sewing project where they make bed sheets and pillow cases for sale. They already had training in sewing, but lacked capital to kick start their business and so they submitted their proposal to us. We quickly processed it and gave them $500 to start with. They bought materials and made 105 sheets and pillow cases and they were all sold.
With their earnings of $2,625 they bought two new sewing machines and an over locking machine to expand the business. Meanwhile they had begun repaying their loan so that they can apply for a bigger loan.
The market has developed confidence in their skills and business such that they have enough orders to keep them busy every week. They are now generating income to buy food, medicines and other needs for their families.
