Imagine how difficult it is for an eight year old child who can’t walk, watching her brothers and sisters running around, and even making fun of her.

Yentema is only 19 years of age, but he has already had a hard time of it. He was bounced from home to home most of his life.

When Maimouna broke her left leg, she did not receive medical care.  Eventually, the bone in the broken leg became badly infected.

Hanilidi is a 23 year old woman who comes from a village about 30 miles from Mahadaga. For years she had stomach pains and after getting married she found that she couldn’t get pregnant.

Mandi has a rare disability which in French is called “bones of glass”. Because of his condition, Mandi’s bones are very fragile and can fracture easily. Unfortunately, his legs have become quite deformed, and at the age of 7 he still could not walk.

Not many people have a more difficult life than Mandi. He had everything working against him...
